Parker's Speech Therapy

Parker 22 months old

So last Friday, Parker’s speech therapist came to assess Parker. First off she bugged me right away. Our appointment was at 11:15. She came at 10:00. I was vacuuming and Parker had changed back into his spiderman pajamas. Not a real big deal so I brushed it off. Parker got to play with a lot of new toys and look at pictures. He did really well. He was able to name all the pictures correctly and he said his ABC’s. He counted to ten by himself! Something even I didn’t think that he could do without help. He was able to tell her his first and last name, how old he was, and how old he was going to be. During all of this I am assuming that she wants him to answer all these questions so that she can hear the different sounds he is making when he says certain words. Right....? At the end of the hour she said that he has an extraordinary vocabulary. She would place him at a five year olds level. And that he is extremely smart two year old. Wow that’s really awesome, I am thinking. She then goes on to say, to qualify for speech therapy he has to have gotten 62 of the 75 pictures wrong. He didn’t miss one of them. Okay I am thinking, so I say, well I know that he is really smart, and we would really like to continue to expand his mind, however we are having a hard time getting him to make the sounds of the words correctly. Well, she says he does say some words incorrectly and that is a concern, however since he was able to name all of the pictures correctly he would not qualify. Um....okay he can name them correctly that doesn’t mean he said the name right. We know what he is saying, it is the right word but he can’t say some of the sounds well, or he will leave some sounds out. Isn’t this the point of speech therapy. So she says that she will have the board members review his case and get back to me, but that she really thinks he will not qualify. What in the hell are you talking about speech lady you are hurting my head! I don’t understand what speech therapy really is then I guess.

WHAT'S NEW...

So after all the hard work that we have put into Parker's diet, it no longer seems to be having any effect on his behavior. What to do, what to do! I will not put him on medication, I will go on it first before I would ever let him. We went today to the USU Psychology behavioral management for the firlst time, it went pretty good. However while filling out paper work Parker was being his normal self, going crazy. The receptionist said, "I hope you've come to the right place, iIve never seen one like him before." After that we took Ryder for his four month well check. He is 100% for height and 60% for weight. They measured him three times just to make sure they had it right. He is cutting teeth and has been trying to sit up on his own. While on his tummy he scoots himself. I layed him down for a sec. while at the dr. to retrieve Parker from the other room he ran to, when I returned Dr. Mckenna was by Ryder's side. He looked up and said, " I give it one month at the most and he will be crawling." He said that is really early and he would hope that it takes him longer. We are starting Ryder on solids (Dr's orders) this week. All I have to say is I ordered a baby not an infant!
Both Ryder and Parker have done things really early on (this doesn't have any effect on the future) Parker said his first word at five months. Infact his first two words kitty cat. He walked at eight months. Okay I say, enough just stay a baby for a little while!
In the mean time we have been trying to figure out what to do with our tax return. Going on vaca would be great, but we have decided to pay off bills and continue to save for the boys' college. I did however take Parker to wal-mart today and he picked out some toys. Okay a lot of toys. Which I let him get. Here is what you have to understand Parkers ADHD has restricted him in many ways. He did not have the attention span to paly with toys for more then five to ten seconds since birth ( this is no exaggeration). Since starting him on the diet he realized for the first time that palying with toys is fun, and is now fascinated by toys that newborns should paly with. He realized they make noise, light up, even move if you press the right buttons. Before this he did ot play with toys at all.
Work is starting to pick up for Skylar which is good, now we have to start thinking about saving for next winter, seems how we used a lot of our savings this winter!
MY FAMILY UPDATE:
Hum lets see, well Eddie's little girl Nyah is three almost four and she is a cute girl, good thing she lives with her mom is all I have to say.

Chris and Autum are expecting their third baby boy in April, they are naming him.. well I won't say because I won't get in right it's either Elisha, or Elijah. Autum has told me a million times but I don't seem to get it right. I know that the one is more of a girls name but who knows these days. Kelton and A.J. are getting so big and are so excited for the baby.

Sam and Becky have the cutest litte girl Hadlee. I could take her home in a heart beat. They live in Tooele and my parents are bording with them till their apartment is finished.

Dillon is almost done with his mission, the pictures he sends are so beautiful exept the incets. I am really missing him, he couldn't have made a better choice for himself.

As for my parnets well.. My mom has to see if she needs heart surgery, that is scary. My dad is so ready to retire, he is working twelve hour sifts all week including Saturdays. He was just awarded for saving more then five thousand trops lives with the work he is doing. My mom still works at Stansberry Elementary and is head of disapline there.

As for our family.. well we are hanging in there. Lots of prayers and fasting going on. I talk to the education advsior next week about starting online courses in the fall. I completed the basic nutrition program at ISU, a little while ago. We want to take a once a week marriage institute at the university this summer. Skylar has not decided when he will start school. And I'm pregnant.
HA I got ya. Skylars family seems to be chilin just taking life day by day, he has a new half brother from his real dad I have never met but I really want to.

That sums it up. At least for this month. Stayed tuned for more coming up next month.

I asked Sky this question and he said that he would still work for sure, he is just that kind of guy.

3 OF MY BAD HABITS:

A new Prophet

"Thomas S. Monson is the new president of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, it was announced today at a news conference in the Church Office Building. President Monson, 80, succeeds President Gordon B. Hinckley, who died 27 January 2008.
The new world leader of the Church has called to serve with him in the First Presidency, the top governing body of the 13-million-member faith, President Henry B. Eyring, 74, first counselor, and President Dieter F. Uchtdorf, 67, second counselor. "
Wow I just realized that President Monson is 80 years old, I know that this picture was takin awhile ago, but even in the news conference today he looked really good for his age! I am so excited that he called Henry B. Eryring as first counselor, I really like him and enjoy his talks.

What I love the most <3

I have to say that before becoming a mother, I'm sure that I would have put that I love my husbad the most. After becoming a mother I can still put that I love my husband the most. He is the father of my two beautiful boys, and he is a great one. He is the best example that anyone would want for their children. He shows his boys that he loves them by loving me, the mother of his children. I hope that my boys will learn how to treat their future wives by watching their father. Tall, dark, and handsome is the famouse line, and I got all three. Thank you Skylar for being so wonderful to me and our boys, you are a hard worker, and you always put us first. If we ever have a little girl I can only imagine that she will be putty in your hands. Thank you for helping me make such beautiful children!

What I love about Parker; Wow everything! It took me awhile to fall in love with Parker, I hate to say that but I didn't really know that I loved him till he was three months old. I suffered from postpartdum depression. One day it was gone, like waking up from a dream and seeing my baby for the first time. I felt cheated out of his first months and I was bitter and mad about it. Finding out about Parker's ADHD only brought us closer. He is my first baby boy. He randomly runs and kisses and huges me throughout the day, he knows when I'm sick and strokes my face. He is Ryders big brother and he fell in love with him before he was born. He is my heart, my love, my Parker P. He is so smart, so creative and always on the go. He is everything a two year old should be and more. He is mine, forever and ever!

What I love most about Ryder; We bonded right away, I felt every pain with the labor and will never forget it. I spent two weeks after your birth just you me and the NICU. The nurses would tell me to skip the night feedings and rest, I couldn't do it. I went to everyone and feed you myself. I wanted to steal you and take you home, you came on your own time. You are my miracle baby, The day I thought that we lost you for the first time in my second trimester I was so devastated, I didn't understand why God would take you. When you where finally born I knew right away something was wrong, you didn't cry and there were countless doctors and nurses scrambling to get you out of the room. Then I saw you, I was in love! I love that you have defied the odds and have caught up to your peers, I love your little giggle when parker smiles at you. All in all I love you!
